Pokémon Trading Card Game: Your Cards May Be Worth Thousands
Yep, you’ve read that correctly. Your Pokémon trading card game’s cards may be worth thousands of dollars.
And not just by combining a few cards, but even a single card may be worth up to $5,000.
There’s even an idea going around that one of the 4 Pikachu Illustrator Cards was recently sold on eBay for $100,000.
With that being said, I’m sure we all loved playing the Pokémon Trading Card Game.
It was so much fun and honestly, it was one of the best card games out there still to this date.
When I recently heard that Pokémon cards were going for a lot of money, I couldn’t help but dig into my attic and search for my very own Pokémon cards.
And surely, I found a whole stack of them, with some very rare cards in there.
When I did look up what they may be worth, I was a bit confused by the 1st edition labeling.
According to the internet, 1st edition cards are more valuable than unlimited cards.
Though there is one hole in that theory, because usually when a trading card game launches its first set, they often times don’t print the 1st edition label on it.
Simply because the 1st edition label is something for collectors, and is often times printed later on when the company who published the cards realize they have a winner on their hands.
I couldn’t help but wonder if the 1st edition “labeled” cards are not actually “1st edition”, but simply part of a collectors item edition called “1st Edition”.
With that being said, I personally believe that any unlimited card from the first show (regarding the first 151 Pokémon) released in the 90’s is worth as much as the 1st edition card.
I understand there were less printed of the 1st edition card, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that those cards are not actually first edition, and other cards which do not have the 1st edition label on them may actually be first edition.
However, this is just my belief.
I’d love to hear what you guys think about this.
